What Does the MFHA Do for Me?

1. Legitimizes your Hunt as Registered or Recognized giving it credibility by belonging to a professional organization with rules for sportsmanship, standards, traditions, and enforcement of these standards.

2. Registers territory to Hunts. This helps prevent Hunts from arguing amongst themselves over boundaries and trying to coerce landowners to allow them to hunt their country, excluding the local Hunt.

3. Assists Hunts in solving disputes with neighboring Hunts when they can no longer work it out amongst themselves.

4. Registers Foxhounds in a published Stud Book. Registers and monitors foxhound pedigrees to assure accurate records of hound lineage available for Hunts to use in their breeding programs.

        c. Assists you in finding particular lines of hounds you need for your breeding program.

Provides insightful tips on hound health problems kennel maintenance & construction through publication of the "Kennel Notebook".

5. Offers computer software, known as FoxDog, which contains over 63,000 hounds, making more than 40 volumes of the Stud Book instantly available. This program identifies hounds, retrieves pedigrees, creates hound lists, lists hounds registered with any Hunt, finds registered descendants, determines the breed of offspring, and creates "litter certificates", plus much, much more.

6. Available to answer questions and research situations on fox hunting.

7. Provides Educational Seminars and written material on all aspects of hunting to help educate fox hunters.

8. Keeps you and your members informed with up to date information from the newsletter Covertside. Covertside is packed with information on fox hunting history, art, hounds, horses, events, and education for the serious foxhunter. We have over 19,000 foxhunters receiving Covertside.

9. Offers several informative foxhunting publications, videos, and tapes for sale and distribution.

10. Monitors and responds to media requests and outside inquiries in an attempt to assure fair and accurate representation. 

11. Created the Hunt Staff Benefit Foundation for needy professional Hunt staff.

12. Created, and with your help funds, the Educational Foundation to educate foxhunters and the general public.

13. Creates and publishes Directories for: Baily's Hunting Directory in England, The Chronicle of the Horse, a separate Canada directory and our Association directory.

14. Pro-actively and aggressively counters "Anti" movements by addressing misinformation and propaganda. Provides fox hunters with accurate information to counter criticism and encourage others to participate in our sport. Supports and identifies for our members, organizations which monitor and fight anti-field sport legislation. 

15. Provides an insurance program for comprehensive general liability insurance in the amount of $3 million available to registered and recognized Hunts.
