About

The Monmouth County Hunt has a rich history in central New Jersey, dating back to 1885, and is one of the oldest hunts in the United States. Founded in the gilded age of foxhunting by Peter Collier, the founder and publisher of Collier’s Magazine, one of the pioneering publications in investigative journalism. Monmouth County Hunt territory remains in central New Jersey in an area dominated by preserved farmland. Territory encompasses over 5000 contiguous acres of unencumbered land to hunt quarry, which is predominantly fox.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Care of hounds and kennels (approximately 20 couple hounds).
  • Feed and daily cleaning of hounds.
  • Daily hound exercise.
  • Whelping and training young hounds.
  • Management of hunt horses, opportunity to bring or develop additional horses for sale.
  • Oversee management of hunt territory which includes trail clearing and mowing.
  • Lead organization of hunter pace courses.
  • Additional help in kennels or barn.
