MFHA Symposium on Hunting with Hounds

The MFHA Symposium on Hunting with Hounds is coming up on July 26-28 at Boar’s Head Resort in Charlottesville, Virginia. Registration is now closed. If you’re attending, we look forward to seeing you there!

 

 

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Friday, July 26

  • Noon to 5:00 PM – Registration table open in Boar’s Head hotel lobby
  • 2:30 PM – Meet in Boar’s Head hotel lobby to load bus for kennel tours of Farmington and Keswick Hunt Clubs. Bus capacity 70 people. First come, first served!
  • 3:00 PM – Kennel tour at Farmington Hunt
  • 5:00 PM – Kennel tour at Keswick Hunt Club
  • 6:00 to 8:30 PM – BBQ dinner at Keswick Hunt Club (Bus transportation provided back to Boar’s Head at 8:30 PM)

 

Saturday, July 27

  • 8:00 to 10:00 AM – Registration table open in foyer of Pavilion building
  • 9:00 AM – Welcome and Opening General Session “The Future of Hunting with Hounds in America: Politics, Youth, Social Media” Speakers: Dr. Todd Adkins, VP of Government Affairs at Sportsmen’s Alliance; social media expert Gabriella Hoffman; youth foxhunters Caelinn Leahy and Mia Valdez. (Location: Pavilion)
  • 10:30 AM – 15 MINUTE BREAK
  • 10:45 AM – Breakout Sessions (Location: Pavilion)
    • “Where In the World Is That Perfect Hunt Horse?” Speakers: Sue Bopp, MFH; Caelinn Leahy; Neil Morris, MFH; Moderator Cameron Sadler, MFH
    • “Where Did All the Hunt Country Go?” Speakers: Sherry Buttrick, ex-MFH; Huntsman John Eaton; Huntsman John Tabachka; Wendy Wood, MFH; Moderator Ginny Perrin, ex-MFH

  • 3:00 PM – “What Do You Want to Be? How to Be a Good Member/Field Master/Master/Whipper-In/Huntsman” Speakers: Jeb Hannum, MFH; Huntsman Donald Philhower; Larry Pitts, MFH; Ted Thompson; Moderator Penny Denegre, MFH (Location: Pavilion)
  • 6:00 PM – Ticketed dinner and silent auction fundraiser for MFHA Foundation at Boar’s Head Resort. Tot Goodwin, MFH, Goodwin Hounds will be presented with the inaugural MFHA Distinguished Lifetime Retired Professional Staff Award. Cocktail hour begins at 6:00 PM; Dinner begins at 7:00 PM. Attire: Cocktail dress; coat & tie (Location: Ballroom)

 

Sunday, July 28

  • Sunday on your own to enjoy Boar’s Head Resort and historic sites in the beautiful Charlottesville area!
  • 10:00 AM – Option to attend kennel tour of Bull Run Hunt (No transportation provided)
