Job Description

Shakerag hounds has an opening for a kennelmen/countrymen. Applicant would help maintain hunt country, kennels and perform road whipping activities on hunt days. Preference is for full time candidate but will consider part time for the right applicant.

About

Shakerag Hounds is the oldest recognized hunt in Georgia. It was established in 1943, when a group of horse and hunting enthusiasts at Atlanta’s historic Chastain Park started the Atlanta Hunt Club, the precursor of the Shakerag Hounds of today. In 1950, the hunt was officially recognized by the Master of Foxhounds Association.

Requirements

Valid drivers license

Responsibilities

  • Kennels: assist with kennel cleaning and hound exercise. Assist with hound care and feeding as directed by the professional huntsman. Driving truck on hunt days.
  • Barn: Assist Huntsman with 2-3 staff horses as needed. Riding ability not required.
  • Country/grounds: maintenance of hunt country (bush hogging, trail clearing etc). Weed whacking, spraying, mowing as needed at the kennels.
